Warner Music to Create AI-Driven Biopic of French Singer Edith Piaf.
90-Minute Animated Film to Use AI to Recreate Piaf's Voice and Image
- Warner Music is partnering with the estate of French singer Edith Piaf to create a 90-minute animated biopic about her life, using AI to recreate her voice and image.
- The film, titled 'Edith', will be set in Paris and New York from the 1920s to the 1960s, and will blend animation with archival material, including stage and TV performances, interviews and personal footage.
- AI technology will be trained on hundreds of voice clips and images, some of which are more than 80 years old, to recreate the singer’s distinctive voice and image.
- The biopic will be narrated using Piaf's AI regenerated voice, while animation will provide a modern take on her story.
- The project has been approved by Piaf's estate, with executors stating that the technology made it feel like they were back in the room with her.
