Warner Bros. Plans Forbidden Planet Remake with Brian K. Vaughan

The 1956 sci-fi classic will be reimagined by award-winning comic writer Brian K. Vaughan and produced by Emma Watts.

Brian K. Vaughan, known for his work on 'Y: The Last Man' and 'Saga', will write the screenplay for the new Forbidden Planet film.
Emma Watts, with a history of producing major sci-fi films, will oversee the project for Warner Bros.
The original film, inspired by Shakespeare's The Tempest, is set in the 23rd century and features the iconic Robby the Robot.
Complicated rights issues previously hindered a remake, but Warner Bros. has now secured the necessary permissions.
There are no details yet on how Vaughan will update the story, but fans can expect Robby the Robot to make an appearance.
