Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav Cuts Ties with High-Profile CNN Figures

Zaslav's leadership sees significant changes at CNN, with former friends and colleagues Zucker, Lemon, and Licht ousted.

Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav has reportedly severed ties with several high-profile CNN employees, including former CNN President Jeff Zucker, anchor Don Lemon, and TV producer Chris Licht.
Zaslav, who took over Warner Bros. Discovery last year, has been making significant changes at CNN, aiming to shift the network away from its perceived partisan stance.
Jeff Zucker, who was forced to resign from CNN in February 2022, had a falling out with Zaslav after Zucker's departure. Zucker claimed that Zaslav, who he considered a close friend, did not reach out to him during a difficult period.
Don Lemon, a longtime CNN host, was fired in April 2023, reportedly at Zaslav's behest. Despite their previous friendship, Zaslav and Lemon no longer socialize.
Chris Licht, who was brought in by Zaslav to take over CNN, was also reportedly ousted by Zaslav. Despite their 15-year friendship, Zaslav told Licht upon hiring him: 'We’re not friends anymore. You work for me.'
