Overview
- Invoke Studios and Wizards of the Coast released an eight-minute gameplay reveal at Gamescom Opening Night Live on Tuesday, Aug. 25, 2026, that publicly demonstrated Warlock’s core systems for the first time.
- The game is a single-player, third-person action-adventure with a pre-written story rather than a party-based, choice-driven D&D RPG.
- Developers showed magic used as a multi-purpose toolkit for traversal, environmental puzzles and combat, including recognizable spells such as Eldritch Blast and Black Tentacles used in novel ways.
- The footage confirmed casting and character anchors: Tricia Helfer as protagonist Kaatri, Maggie Robertson as her patron Tasha, and an imp companion named Skev who provides commentary and utility.
- Warlock is developed by Montreal-based Invoke as part of Wizards’ in-house AAA push, it survived prior studio shakeups, and is scheduled for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2027 with a firm date to be announced later.
