Wanted Man Fatally Shot by Indianapolis Police in Gunfight

Raphael Nafees Dekemper, wanted on multiple charges, was killed during a traffic stop; officers placed on administrative leave.

Indianapolis police fatally shot a man, identified as Raphael Nafees Dekemper, during a gunfight on Thursday evening.
Dekemper was wanted on a warrant for charges including possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, criminal recklessness, pointing a firearm and invasion of privacy.
The incident occurred when officers attempted to arrest Dekemper during a traffic stop on the city's east side.
Dekemper allegedly fired at the officers first, prompting them to return fire.
The three officers involved in the shooting have been placed on administrative leave, as per standard procedure.
