  • Wang Yi landed in New Delhi on August 18 at around 4:15 PM and held his first discussions with External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar that evening.
  • He is set to conduct the 24th Special Representatives’ talks with National Security Advisor Ajit Doval on August 19 to explore new confidence-building measures and border-management mechanisms.
  • A formal call on Prime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled for 5:30 PM on August 19 at the prime minister’s official residence at 7, Lok Kalyan Marg.
  • Despite partial disengagements at key friction points, both India and China maintain approximately 50,000–60,000 troops each along the eastern Ladakh sector of the LAC.
  • Outcomes from these meetings will help lay the groundwork for Modi’s attendance at the SCO leaders’ summit in Tianjin later this month.
