Walt Disney World Names and Assembles Fourth Magic Kingdom Ferryboat

The vessel is being built at a backstage marina to expand boat service across Seven Seas Lagoon when it enters service in 2027.

Overview

  • Crews have completed the lower deck and recently added a second deck to the ferry’s hull as assembly continues at a backstage marina near Magic Kingdom.
  • Transportation Cast Members signed a piece of steel that will be installed on the boat, following a tradition that lets workers leave their names on the build.
  • Disney has announced the new boat will be called Meg Gilbert Crofton in honor of the resort’s former president and will match the look and capacity of the existing fleet.
  • When it joins the Admiral Joe Fowler, General Joe Potter, and Richard F. Irvine, Disney expects the fourth ferry to increase transport capacity between the Transportation and Ticket Center and Magic Kingdom.
  • The project is the first expansion of the Magic Kingdom ferry fleet since 1976 and many current Transportation Cast Members are expected to crew the new vessel, which could help ease peak-period crowding on the Seven Seas Lagoon route.
