Overview

  • The recall covers about 850,000 Ozark Trail 64-ounce stainless steel insulated water bottles sold at Walmart stores and online since 2017.
  • The bottles’ one-piece screw-on lids can eject forcefully when opened after storing carbonated, perishable or food items, creating impact and laceration risks.
  • Walmart received three reports of customers struck in the face by ejected lids, with two people experiencing permanent vision loss.
  • Consumers are instructed to stop using the recalled bottles immediately and return them to any Walmart location for a full refund under recall number 37-377.
  • Recalled bottles bear model number 83-662 only on their packaging, complicating consumer identification of at-risk products.
