Overview
- Deal tracker Nintendeal posted a Walmart product screenshot on Monday that said PS5 and Xbox physical pre-orders would include a “surprise and delight” GMD bag alongside a digital download code.
- The Walmart listing said the mystery items would ship starting November 12, the day Rockstar begins GTA 6 pre-loads, but the retailer has not confirmed the bag’s contents and the page appears to have been edited since the screenshot was captured.
- Nintendeal and reporters clarified the boxed product contains only a digital voucher, not a game disc, and buyers must still download about 210 GB to play GTA 6.
- Walmart has had recent pre-order fulfillment issues, which could affect delivery of the mystery bag, and customers who prefer guaranteed access can still pre-order the game digitally from PlayStation, Xbox or Rockstar stores.
- Rockstar is separately selling a $400 Collector’s Edition that includes physical memorabilia but not the $80 game, showing that demand for tangible items is driving varied retail strategies for a largely digital release.
