• Cristian Barrientos has held the top role since August 1 following Ignacio Caride’s abrupt resignation, the company disclosed in a market filing.
• Wal-Mart de México y Centroamérica reported the appointment to the Bolsa Mexicana de Valores and noted he remains a provisional director pending shareholder ratification at the annual meeting.
• Kathryn McLay, head of Walmart International, described Barrientos as a visionary leader with a deep understanding of customers and partners.
• Barrientos brings more than 26 years at Walmart, beginning in Chile in 1999 and leading the creation of the Súper Bodega aCuenta format in 2007.
• In Mexico he oversaw Bodega Aurrera’s growth, including more than 600 store openings, later leading Walmart Centroamérica in 2018, returning as COO in 2020 to drive digital and e-commerce, and serving as CEO of Walmart Chile in 2023.
