Wall’s Recalls Scotch Eggs Over Salmonella Contamination

Products bearing a July 2 use-by date have been withdrawn with full refunds available after routine tests detected salmonella.

Overview

  • The recall covers Wall’s The Classic Scotch Egg (113 g) and Wall’s 2 Classic Scotch Eggs (226 g) bearing a use-by date of July 2, 2025.
  • Consumers are urged not to eat the affected products and to return them to any retailer for a full refund without a receipt.
  • Compleat Food Group initiated the recall after routine safety tests by the Food Standards Agency found trace salmonella in the two batches.
  • No other Wall’s products are impacted and point-of-sale notices have been displayed in Tesco, Sainsbury’s and other major supermarkets.
  • UK Health Security Agency data show salmonella infections rose 17.1% to 10,388 cases in 2024, the highest annual total since at least 2014.
