Walgreens names former health executive Tim Wentworth as new CEO amid concerns over pharmacy staffing

Walgreens Boots Alliance has appointed veteran healthcare executive Tim Wentworth as its new CEO, effective October 23.
Wentworth was previously CEO of Express Scripts and chief of Cigna's health services division Evernorth.
The appointment comes as Walgreens aims to expand beyond its core pharmacy business into broader healthcare services.
However, Walgreens faces challenges with understaffing and overwork at its pharmacy locations, prompting employee protests and walkouts.
As incoming CEO, Wentworth will be tasked with transforming Walgreens into a leading healthcare provider while also addressing urgent pharmacy staffing issues.
