- Waitrose will open its first full-size supermarket in seven years in Brabazon, North Bristol, with a 30,000 sq ft store due in 2027 that is set to create around 150 jobs.
- The John Lewis Partnership has sealed a multi-million-pound deal with YTL Developments to anchor the Brabazon site as part of the new town project on the former Filton Airfield.
- The retailer’s £1 billion investment plan encompasses new store openings and modernisation works on 150 existing branches over the next three years.
- As the initial phase of its strategy, Waitrose is refurbishing more than 20 stores this year to bring updated layouts, technology and services to customers.
- Alongside the Brabazon launch, Waitrose is broadening its footprint through new convenience outlets in Bristol’s The Arches and franchised supermarkets at sites including Spaldwick and Rotherham.
