Overview

  • Ryan Hamill, Skaggs’ former agent, testified that Skaggs admitted to using Percocet provided by Miley during their 2012–2013 season with the Arizona Diamondbacks.
  • Miley publicly denied the allegations on June 13, stating he had never been accused of any wrongdoing and expressing sympathy for Skaggs’ family.
  • The deposition emerged in a summary judgment motion filed by the Angels on May 30, in which the team argued Skaggs’ own drug use from various sources should dismiss the $210 million suit.
  • Skaggs’ family sued the Los Angeles Angels in 2021, alleging team officials knew former communications director Eric Kay was supplying drugs and failed to prevent the overdose.
  • Eric Kay was convicted in 2022 of distributing the fentanyl-laced pills that contributed to Skaggs’ death and is serving a 22-year prison sentence.
