- WADA’s leadership in New Delhi on Thursday met the sports minister, NADA, and the CBI to tighten cooperation and fold India into its global effort against doping supply lines.
- WADA president Witold Banka said India is the biggest source of illegal performance-enhancing drugs and said the agency will work with the CBI to go after manufacturers and trafficking networks.
- Operation Upstream, run with INTERPOL and EUROPOL partners, has produced about 250 raids worldwide, shut 88 illicit labs, and seized roughly 90 tonnes of drugs across about 20 countries.
- The agency will conduct a virtual audit of NADA’s results management in the coming weeks and said it is keeping close watch on the National Dope Testing Laboratory.
- India has led WADA’s doping violations for three straight years, with 260 positives from about 7,000 tests in 2024, as the government drafts criminal penalties and NADA plans more tests and new labs.
