Overview

  • From September 1, 2025, the Verkehrsverbund Oberelbe will reduce the number of daily trips on both the Weißeritztal- and Lößnitzgrundbahn.
  • The last train pairs of each day will operate only on weekends and public holidays during the summer season.
  • Scheduled maintenance shutdowns in November will be extended to curb operating expenses.
  • VVO has adjusted its transport contract with the Sächsische Dampfeisenbahngesellschaft to formalize the service reductions.
  • The association warns that further cuts may be required if state funding is not restored.
