Vusimuzi ‘Cat’ Matlala Case Transferred to Johannesburg High Court, Jan. 29 Appearance Set

The move follows the centralisation of linked Pretoria and Alexandra dockets into a single prosecution.

Gauteng NPA confirmed the consolidation of multiple dockets and set the first consolidated High Court appearance for January 29, 2026.
Matlala and four co-accused face expanded counts that include 11 attempted murders, conspiracy to commit murder, and unlawful possession of firearms and ammunition.
In court on Tuesday, the matter was formally moved from the Alexandra Magistrate’s Court to the Johannesburg High Court for trial preparations and postponed to January 29.
The charges stem from the October 2023 attack on Matlala’s former partner, Tebogo Thobejane, with related Pretoria cases involving Seunkie “DJ Vetteys” Mokubung and businessman Joe Sibanyoni now folded into the same trial.
Matlala remains in custody after bail was refused in the lower court and on appeal last month, while co-accused statuses include two in custody and two on bail, according to Tuesday’s proceedings.
