- The International Tennis Integrity Agency imposed a four-year suspension on Monday after finding Markéta Vondroušová refused an out-of-competition test she was asked to take on December 3, 2025, leaving her sidelined until June 21, 2030.
- The ITIA said anti-doping rules require that a missed or refused test be judged the same way as a positive result to prevent deliberate evasion and protect sport integrity.
- Vondroušová has said she declined the late-night visit out of fear and months of physical and mental strain, describing an anxiety reaction and concerns about a tester who she said did not properly identify themself.
- The ITIA rejected that explanation, saying testers are trained, carry ID and match the observer’s gender to the player, and found the athlete’s account did not amount to a convincing justification.
