Overview
- Volvo has resurrected the XC70 nameplate as a standalone PHEV SUV built on its new Scalable Modular Architecture platform.
- The model offers two battery choices: a 21.22 kWh LFP pack for about 100 km of CLTC electric range and a 39.63 kWh NMC pack for roughly 180 km.
- A 120 kW 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine developed with Geely and produced through the Aurobay-Renault venture underpins the hybrid drivetrain.
- Top-trim variants combine dual electric motors to produce nearly 600 hp and 667 lb-ft of torque, enabling a 0-62 mph sprint in about 4.6 seconds.
- Orders will open in China later this year, and Volvo says it will evaluate additional markets with U.S. availability considered unlikely.
