Volvo Launches All-Electric EM90 MPV Exclusively in China

Premium 'Living Room on the Move' Vehicle Offers Up to 458 Miles Range

  • Volvo has launched the EM90, its first all-electric multi-purpose vehicle (MPV), exclusively in China. The vehicle is described as a 'living room on the move', offering a premium experience that evokes domesticity and security.
  • The EM90 is fully electric, with a platform shared with the Zeekr 009 MPV, another Geely sub-brand. It has a 116 kWh battery that can charge from 10% to 80% in less than 30 minutes.
  • The vehicle features a spacious interior with six full-size seats, a plethora of screen-based tech, including a ceiling-mounted screen and door-mounted temperature controls and displays. It also includes noise cancellation tech, an air purifier, and massage chairs.
  • China's official range test gives the EM90 a generous figure of up to 738 kilometres (458 miles), which should still translate to around twice the capability of the EX30. The EM90 can reach 100 km/h in around 8.3 seconds.
  • The EM90 is priced at 818,000 yuan, or around $114,000. It's unclear if or when the EV will be available in other markets.
