Volkswagen Sets Nov. 18 Start for ID.4 and ID.Buzz Access to Tesla Superchargers

Owners will need a $200 Volkswagen NACS-to-CCS adapter to charge on compatible DC fast stations.

Overview

  • Access goes live November 18 across the United States and Canada, opening more than 25,000 compatible Supercharger stalls to VW drivers.
  • Eligible ID.4 and ID.Buzz owners can buy the adapter from dealers or parts.vw.com, with original 2025 owners able to claim a $100 rebate; 2026 models include the adapter.
  • Charging via the adapter is limited to DC fast (Level 3) use and does not work with Level 1 or Level 2 AC chargers, including Tesla Destination Chargers.
  • Drivers can locate compatible sites and pay through the Tesla app, though some older Superchargers will not work with non‑Tesla vehicles.
  • Volkswagen highlights more than 5,000 Electrify America fast chargers as additional options, while coverage cites a 2025 Consumer Reports finding of higher problem rates on that network compared with Superchargers.
