Spanish factories support a CtP-based cost push toward mass-market pricing.
Overview
- VW grouped the ID. Polo, ID. Cross, Škoda Epiq and Cupra Raval into an Electric Urban Car Family on the front-drive MEB+ platform, with world premieres staggered through 2026 and customer deliveries also planned for 2026.
- Seat interim CEO Markus Haupt outlined an ambition to reach 800,000 units a year by the end of the decade, split between Martorell (500,000 for ID. Polo and Cupra Raval) and Pamplona/Navarra (300,000 for ID. Cross and Škoda Epiq), with a slower ramp in 2026–27.
- VW detailed a new cell-to-pack battery approach using its Einheitszelle, with the cooling plate positioned above the cells and overpressure vents below to direct gases away from the cabin.
- InsideEVs reported unconfirmed drivetrain and battery specifics including an APP290 PSM front motor, a VW-developed silicon-carbide inverter, 56 kWh NMC and 38 kWh LFP options, and roughly 25 minutes for 10–80% DC charging.
- Italdesign presented the EVX Project as a holographic small SUV-coupé feasibility study to illustrate MEB+ packaging, with no commitment to series production for VW Group brands.
