Overview

  • The software unlock raises system power from 150 kW (204 PS) to 170 kW (231 PS) on model-year 2025 ID.3 Pro vehicles running software 3.2.1
  • Owners can opt for a €18.90 monthly subscription, a €189 annual plan or a €629 one-time purchase, with subscriptions reverting to 150 kW on cancellation and lifetime upgrades remaining with the car after resale
  • Volkswagen says the boost does not affect the WLTP-rated 434 km range or energy consumption and requires no insurance or registration updates thanks to homologation at the higher power
  • Activation is handled post-purchase through the in-car shop or VW website and requires a Volkswagen ID account plus an active VW-Connect contract
  • The move is part of a broader “Functions on Demand” trend that monetizes pre-installed hardware, reshaping ownership debates and influencing used-car values
