Volkswagen Rebrands ID.2all as ID. Polo, Previews Camouflaged EV Ahead of 2026 Launch

VW seeks to restore clarity for buyers by pairing legacy nameplates with a sub‑€25,000 entry target.

Overview

  • Volkswagen confirmed the production model will be called ID. Polo and will display lightly camouflaged ID. Polo and ID. Polo GTI prototypes at IAA Mobility in Munich from September 8–14, 2025.
  • The series world premiere is scheduled for the first half of 2026 with European market launch in autumn 2026.
  • VW targets a base price below €25,000, plans two battery sizes, three power levels at launch (expanding to four), and says DC fast charging will be standard across trims.
  • The GTI badge moves into the electric range with the ID. Polo GTI due in 2026, while power and range figures remain provisional with earlier 166 kW and ~450 km WLTP numbers cited from the 2023 study.
  • The small EV uses the MEB Small/MEB+ front‑drive architecture and is part of a group strategy to build four related models (VW, Škoda, Cupra, plus a small VW SUV) in Spain, as VW phases legacy names into the wider ID. lineup at future model generations.
