Volkswagen Introduces ID.7 Tourer, its First Electric Station Wagon Expected to Release in Europe in 2024
Volkswagen's first electric station wagon, the ID.7 Tourer, boasts aerodynamic design, large cargo space and potential for U.S. release, despite initial plans for European launch in 2024.
- Volkswagen reveals the ID.7 Tourer, its first electric station wagon, which is essentially a stretched-out version of the upcoming ID.7 full-size sedan. It is designed with aerodynamic and spacious, boasting 545 liters of cargo space or around 19 cubic feet, which increases to 1,714 liters or roughly 60 liters when rear seats are folded down.
- The ID.7 Tourer is built on the same MEB platform as the ID. Buzz, meaning a longer wheelbase and more room for interior space despite its longer body compared to the electric sedan it's based on.
- Although initial plans target a European release in 2024, there is speculation about a potential U.S. release due to the ID.7 sedan's scheduled launch in the U.S. and Canada in 2024.
- The ID.7 Tourer's design maintains the sedan’s aerodynamic body with a 0.24 Cd, slightly higher than the ID.7’s 0.24 Cd, and benefits from short overhangs and a long wheelbase thanks to Volkswagen’s MEB platform.
- The new Volkswagen ID.7 Tourer likely to start with the same 210kW/545Nm, single-motor, rear-drive powertrain as the ID.7 Pro, and Volkswagen will also offer it with the ID.7 Pro S’s larger 85KWh battery pack which should approach the 621km (386 mile) range of the ID.7 Pro and the 700km (431 mile) range of the ID.7 Pro S.
