Overview

  • Up to 16,510 Volkswagen Polo, Passat, Taigo, ID.7, ID.7 Tourer and ID. Buzz vehicles produced in recent months are covered by the worldwide recall.
  • The defect affects the passenger-side airbag gas generator casing, which may burst or release components during deployment and cause serious or fatal injuries.
  • Owners have been asked to deactivate the front passenger airbag and keep the seat unoccupied until repairs are carried out.
  • Volkswagen estimates the fix will take one to three hours but warns that parts availability and workshop scheduling could prolong wait times.
  • The company says the recall is purely preventive after supplier quality checks flagged the issue and that some of the affected cars have not yet reached customers.
