Volkswagen EVs Get Tesla Supercharger Access on Nov. 18

The move expands charging options beyond Electrify America’s network for Volkswagen’s current EV lineup.

Overview

  • Access opens November 18 in the U.S. and Canada for ID.4 crossovers and ID. Buzz vans.
  • Drivers can use more than 25,000 compatible Tesla DC fast chargers, with station selection and payment handled in the Tesla app.
  • A Volkswagen NACS-to-CCS adapter costs $200 in the U.S. ($304 CAD) from dealers or parts.vw.com, with a $100 rebate available to 2025 original owners through July 15, 2026.
  • Model-year 2026 Volkswagen EVs will include the adapter, and select 2024–2025 vehicles will receive a software update to support NACS charging.
  • The adapter enables DC fast charging only and does not work with Level 1/2 or Tesla Destination Chargers, and some older Superchargers remain incompatible.
