• Vladimiro Zagrebelsky died on August 5 at age 85 after suffering a sudden illness at his vacation home in Gressoney-La-Trinité, Valle d’Aosta.
• Mayor Alessandro Girod said the municipal administration joins the Zagrebelsky family in profound grief.
• He graduated in law from the University of Turin in 1963 and served two terms on the Superior Council of the Judiciary in the 1980s and 1990s.
• Zagrebelsky presided over the Corte d’Assise di Torino from 1987 to 1990 and was Prosecutor of Turin from 1991 to 1994.
• In 2001 he was elected to the European Court of Human Rights, serving until 2010, and he was the elder brother of constitutional jurist Gustavo Zagrebelsky.
