• Campbell was first diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma in 2013 and later enrolled in a pembrolizumab immunotherapy trial after initial treatments failed.
• After an autologous stem cell transplant proved ineffective and the cancer returned, doctors advised a donor bone marrow transplant as his only chance for a cure.
• His initial donor withdrew days before the procedure, but a match was secured in December 2024 with a 21-year-old donor.
• He underwent the transplant on New Year’s Eve and spent over three weeks in hospital, causing him to miss Def Leppard’s first show of 2025.
• A mid-April PET scan showed no traces of cancer, and Campbell said he plans to buy his donor a beer to express his gratitude.
