Viva Raw Recalls Two Pet-Food Lots Over Suspected Salmonella, Listeria Contamination

  • The action targets Lot 21495 (Viva Ground Beef for Dogs; Viva Beef & Turkey for Puppies) and Lot 21975 (Viva Ground Chicken for Dogs; Viva Chunked Chicken for Dogs; Viva Chicken for Cats; Viva Pure Chicken).
  • Affected items were sold as frozen 1-pound bricks with the lot number printed on top, shipped direct to consumers nationwide from July 2 to Aug. 21 and to select retailers in AZ, CA, FL, IL, KS, NY and SC.
  • Potential contamination was identified by the North Carolina Department of Agriculture during routine testing that detected Salmonella and Listeria monocytogenes.
  • No illnesses in pets or people linked to these lots have been reported as of Aug. 27.
