Vistra Rallies on 20-Year Meta Nuclear Pact as Financing and Gas Deal Advance

Investor attention turns to a planned $2.25 billion note closing on January 22, execution of nuclear uprates, regulatory clearances.

Overview

  • Vistra signed 20-year agreements to supply Meta with 2,609 MW of carbon-free power and capacity from its PJM-region nuclear plants.
  • An 8-K detailed a 13–17% cash accretion versus 2026 guidance and about $800 million of EBITDA potential split between existing assets and planned uprates, with roughly 48% of the nuclear fleet still un-contracted.
  • Uprates at Perry, Davis-Besse, and Beaver Valley are slated to begin initial deliveries in late 2026, reach full volumes by the end of 2027, and add further output from 2031 to 2034.
  • Vistra agreed to acquire Cogentrix for about $4.7 billion, adding 10 natural gas plants and roughly 5,500 MW across PJM, ISO New England, and ERCOT.
  • Shares rose about 6.6–7% after the Meta announcement as analysts updated views, including a UBS price target increase to $233, with investors watching the Jan. 22 note closing that supports the Cogentrix deal.
