Vista Grande Fire in Fairfield Expands to 50 Acres, Forcing Evacuations

Overview

  • The fire has consumed roughly 50 acres since igniting Monday afternoon near Vista Grande and Capitola Way in Fairfield’s residential outskirts.
  • Evacuation orders for zones FRF-1658, FRF-1694 and FRF-1698 remain in effect, affecting homes on Palmer Circle, Bear Creek Drive and Cherry Valley Circle.
  • Cal Fire and the Fairfield Fire Department have deployed four engines, one battalion chief, two hand crews, two dozers, a helicopter, an airtanker and an air tactical aircraft to fight the flames.
  • Crews have made no containment progress as of late Monday evening and are working through the night to establish control lines.
  • Cal Fire officials say the cause of the Vista Grande Fire is under investigation.
