The zoo is awaiting necropsy and histopathology results to determine the cause of his death.

Overview

  • A sudden drop in energy and activity on Oct. 30 prompted an emergency veterinary examination.
  • Bali died overnight on Oct. 31 at the Norfolk facility, according to the zoo.
  • Born in 2004 at Howletts Wild Animal Park in England, he moved to the Virginia Zoo in 2010 and lived there for 15 years.
