Overview

• On July 18 at Fair Oaks Mall, 26-year-old Andres Caceres Jaldin was caught on surveillance grabbing a toddler who had wandered from an indoor play area
• The child’s mother intercepted Jaldin on the mall’s second floor and safely recovered her before he fled in a stolen vehicle
• Fairfax County detectives traced the stolen car to an Extended Stay hotel in Chantilly and arrested Jaldin without incident
• He is charged with abduction of a minor and grand larceny, is held without bond at the Fairfax County Adult Detention Center and has no fixed address
• Court records show prior assault, malicious wounding and property damage charges, a schizophrenia diagnosis and Homeland Security confirmation of his U.S. citizenship
