Overview
- Virginia voters will decide Tuesday between incumbent Attorney General Jason Miyares and Democratic nominee Jay Jones in a race that has become intensely competitive.
 - An Emerson College survey conducted Oct. 30–31 and an InsiderAdvantage poll from Nov. 2–3 both show Jones narrowly ahead, with leads within the margin of error.
 - Miyares used his closing argument to denounce 2022 texts attributed to Jones that fantasized about killing then–House Speaker Todd Gilbert and included wishes that police officers and children would die.
 - Jones appeared Saturday at a Norfolk rally for Abigail Spanberger headlined by Barack Obama, prompting Republican criticism as Obama did not mention Jones by name during his remarks.
 - Jones has apologized for the messages and also faces scrutiny over a 116‑mph reckless driving case and reports that some of his community-service hours were performed for his own PAC.
