Virgin Australia Takes First Embraer E190-E2 to Renew Regional Fleet

Virgin Australia Regional Airlines will deploy the 100-seat jet on Western Australia routes to replace Fokker 100s.

Overview

  • The aircraft was handed over on September 2 at Embraer’s São José dos Campos plant as the airframer’s 1,900th E‑Jet delivery.
  • Delivered by lessor Azorra from its firm orderbook, it is the first of eight E190‑E2s for the airline group.
  • The jet, to be registered VH‑E2A and named Coral Bay, is powered by Pratt & Whitney GTF engines.
  • Embraer and VARA cite up to 30% lower fuel burn versus the Fokker 100s, with reduced noise and emissions and a two‑by‑two 100‑seat cabin.
  • Entry into service is planned by October 2025, with three additional aircraft due later in 2025 and into 2026.
