- Flights begin on October 16, 2025 between Melbourne–Gold Coast and Melbourne–Sunshine Coast, with the trial running through January 30, 2026.
- Only small cats and dogs under 8 kg (including carrier) may travel in approved soft‑sided, leak‑proof carriers secured with cable ties and an absorbent mat, stowed under the seat for the entire flight.
- Capacity is capped at four pets per service with owners assigned window seats 18A, 18F, 20A or 20F, and cats are excluded on Melbourne–Gold Coast flights during the trial.
- Bookings are priced at an introductory $149 per animal, per one‑way trip, and pets are not permitted in Virgin Australia airport lounges.
- Health measures include required vaccinations, vet certification for higher‑risk animals, HEPA filtration and buffer zones to manage allergens, with allergic passengers able to request a seat change.
