Virada Sustentável Returns to Rio as MADA Prepares National Broadcast This Weekend

Free, UN-backed events link arts to climate action ahead of COP30.

Overview

  • Virada Sustentável opened in Rio on Oct. 16–19 with free programming across CCBB, Parque Garota de Ipanema and other venues, marking its first local edition in five years.
  • A forum at CCBB features seven panels and more than 30 speakers on climate and sustainability topics, held in partnership with the United Nations in Brazil.
  • Community-led actions include the Favela Sustentável festival at Fundição Progresso with a COP30 letter, Casa Clima workshops, Muhcab exhibitions and mangrove restoration at the Lagoa.
  • Natal’s MADA 2025 runs Oct. 17–18 at Arena das Dunas with 30-plus acts, highlighting Mano Brown’s solo debut alongside Marina Sena, Liniker and BaianaSystem.
  • MADA will stream live on Globoplay and g1, with TV Globo airing highlights across 45 affiliates and projected reach above 60 million, as city agendas add free shows at MAM and the 28th Feira do Vinil.
