Overview
- Emergency crews carried out hundreds of interventions after the storms, with Paris firefighters (BSPP) reporting 60 storm-related actions and local pompiers in the Doubs recording more than 200 interventions.
- The storms on Thursday produced heavy rain, large hail and strong winds that flooded basements and streets, damaged roofs, uprooted trees and shattered vehicle windows on routes such as the A36.
- BSPP’s first regional tally recorded 13 flooded basements or apartments, nine fallen public electrical cables and 35 unstable materials in Île-de-France, with 37 of the 60 BSPP interventions occurring in Val-de-Marne.
- Transport and infrastructure suffered major disruption: SNCF Réseau said debris and fallen obstacles blocked tracks between Juvisy and Paris‑Austerlitz and RER A, C, D and E services were disrupted, while about 2,200 customers lost power in some eastern departments and the Allier.
- Authorities kept seven eastern departments on orange thunderstorm vigilance into Friday morning and warned storms would shift east with continued risk of hail, hourly rainfall around 30 mm and gusts locally reaching 80–100 km/h, so further damage and interventions remain possible.
