Overview
- Creator Makoto Yukimura replied on X late Friday that “the project is not currently in progress,” giving the clearest update yet on season 3.
- Neither Kodansha nor MAPPA have issued any official statement about a third season since Yukimura’s reply.
- Reporting ties the hold-up to the series’ multi-company production committee, which requires agreement among Twin Engine, Kodansha, Production I.G. and MAPPA before work can begin.
- Analysts say MAPPA’s heavy slate of high-profile projects limits its studio availability, which likely pushes Vinland Saga lower on the priority list.
- Even if production is greenlit, outlets note that adapting the remaining manga material is time intensive and could take several years to complete, keeping fans waiting.
