VinFast Unveils Electric Pickup Truck and Plans for US Market Expansion

The Vietnamese EV maker revealed the VF Wild, a mid-sized electric pickup, and announced that the subcompact electric SUV, the VF 3, will be coming to the US market.

  • VinFast, a Vietnamese electric vehicle maker, has unveiled plans for a mid-sized electric pickup truck, the VF Wild, at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas.
  • The VF Wild, currently a concept vehicle, is a little shorter than a Toyota Tacoma or Ford Ranger mid-sized pickup and has a cargo bed that’s about five feet long. The back wall of the passenger compartment can fold down, allowing items as long as eight feet to be carried.
  • VinFast also revealed a subcompact electric SUV, the VF 3, which is currently sold in Vietnam but will also be coming to the US market. The VF 3 can only go about 125 miles on a charge.
  • Despite some initial setbacks in the US market, VinFast is continuing its expansion, with a factory currently being built in North Carolina to supply electric vehicles for the American market.
  • VinFast, founded in 2017 as part of Vietnam’s Vingroup, has quickly focused solely on electric vehicles.
