• Jose Rojo Martin, known as Pacheta, was sacked by Villarreal only two months into his tenure following the departure of Quique Setien.

• Villarreal's performance this season significantly underperforms last season's results, where they finished fifth under Setién and reached the Champions League semifinals under Unai Emery.
