• NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero reported Tuesday that Minnesota placed Aaron Jones on injured reserve with a hamstring injury and signed Cam Akers to the practice squad.
• Akers returns for a third stint under Kevin O’Connell after not making the Saints’ roster this summer, having logged 64 carries for 297 yards and three total touchdowns for the Vikings in 2024.
• With Jones sidelined, Jordan Mason becomes the lead back after pacing Minnesota’s rushing attack over the first two weeks.
• The injury-hit offense also includes Ty Chandler and fullback C.J. Ham on IR, and the team agreed to add quarterback Desmond Ridder to the active roster as J. J. McCarthy deals with an ankle injury.
