T.J. Hockenson and the Vikings have agreed to a 4-year, $68.5 million contract extension.
The deal makes Hockenson the highest-paid tight end in NFL history with an annual average salary of $17.125 million.
Hockenson was traded from the Lions to the Vikings last season and had 60 catches for 519 yards and 3 touchdowns in 10 games.
Hockenson missed time in training camp with injuries but is expected to start in Week 1 against the Buccaneers.
The contract tops the previous record held by the Giants' Darren Waller at $17 million per year for a tight end.
