Vijay to Launch 98-Day Statewide TVK Tour From Trichy on Sept. 13 Under Police Curbs

Tamil Nadu Police cleared the Trichy launch under strict time and movement curbs that TVK says it will follow.

Overview

  • The kickoff is scheduled for 10:35 am near the MGR statue at Gandhi Market Police Station, Marakkadai, with Vijay announcing the tour as a district-by-district outreach.
  • Police limited the Sept. 13 event to 25 minutes from 10:35 to 11:00, barred roadshows and receptions, confined activity to Tiruchirappalli, capped vehicles at the leader’s car plus five, and prohibited functionaries from walking or holding processions.
  • Organizers were told to ensure parking without disrupting traffic and to provide drinking water, first aid, an ambulance, and firefighting equipment, with participants asked to arrive by 9:35 am.
  • TVK says the tour will run mainly on Saturdays through Dec. 20, with early stops including Nagappatinam, Tiruvarur, and Mayiladuthurai on Sept. 20 and parts of Chennai and Tiruvallur on Sept. 27, with a finish reportedly planned in Madurai.
  • Vijay cast the DMK as TVK’s political enemy and the BJP as a policy foe, asserted that voters have lost faith in the ruling party, and urged cadres to follow police rules with strict discipline as the party adopts mass-contact tactics.
