Overview
- Thousands packed Tiruchirappalli as Vijay began TVK’s district-by-district campaign, with his convoy taking roughly two hours to cover about 5 km and city traffic brought to a standstill.
- Police cleared the launch with 23–25 conditions, including a 25–30 minute speaking window, a ban on roadshows and receptions, and a cap of five vehicles in the convoy.
- Supporters repeatedly breached safety guidance by climbing poles and structures and trailing the campaign vehicle, with reports of drinking water shortages and fainting, including a pregnant woman and children.
- Vijay’s first address from the campaign vehicle suffered major audio failures, leaving only a minute or two of a roughly 20-minute speech clearly audible to most of the crowd.
- Positioning TVK against the ruling DMK and opposing BJP policies, Vijay pledged a focus on law and order, women’s safety, education, healthcare and power supply as the tour runs through December 20.
