Overview
- Aena confirmed the digital tower will launch on June 17 after postponing its initial June 11 debut.
- It will control traffic at Vigo Airport each morning from 9:30 to 11:30 as Spain’s first remote air traffic tower.
- AESA approved the project following capacity tests and Aena said the delay was unrelated to staff training, technical faults or weather.
- The digital system features 14 fixed cameras, two mobile cameras, three supplementary cameras and sensors to provide a 360° runway view.
- The Vigo installation joins over 30 European airports already using remote tower technology.
