Victoria Wood Statue Toppled by Taxi in Bury

The bronze sculpture of the beloved comedian was knocked over in a car collision, leaving the driver with minor injuries.

The statue was hit by a taxi shortly after 10pm on Monday, causing it to be ripped from its base.
The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, and no arrests were made.
Victoria Wood's statue was unveiled in May 2019 to honor the comedian who passed away in 2016.
Bury Council is assessing the damage and plans to keep the statue in a safe place during repairs.
Victoria's brother, Chris Foote Wood, expressed shock but reassured that the statue will be restored.
