Overview

  • Mboko became the first Canadian to defeat three former Grand Slam champions in a single WTA event in the Open Era by ousting Sofia Kenin, Coco Gauff and Elena Rybakina.
  • She saved a match point in her semifinal against Rybakina, turning a 1-6, 5-7 deficit into a 1-6, 7-5, 7-6(4) victory on a taped wrist.
  • As a wildcard ranked 85th, she joined Monica Seles (1995) and Simona Halep (2015) as the only wildcards to reach and win a Canadian Open final in the Open Era.
  • Her journey from outside the top 300 at the start of the season to champion in Montreal ensured she will be seeded at the US Open.
  • Mboko is the first Canadian woman to win the Montreal final since Bianca Andreescu in 2019, ending a six-year title drought on home soil.
