Overview

• Cox appeared in Hinds County court on Oct. 13 for a pretrial conference where prosecutors presented a plea offer, according to the district attorney’s office.
• If no agreement is reached, her trial is set to begin Dec. 8 in Jackson.
• A Hinds County grand jury indicted Cox on capital murder, kidnapping, and sexual battery, and she has pleaded not guilty.
• Authorities arrested Cox and Daniel Callihan in Jackson in June 2024 after the killing of Callie Brunett in Louisiana; 4-year-old Erin Brunett was later found dead in Mississippi, with coroners citing sharp-force injuries for the mother and asphyxiation for the child.
• Callihan has pleaded guilty in Mississippi and Louisiana state courts, received a life sentence in Mississippi, and is scheduled for federal sentencing on Nov. 19 before U.S. District Judge Lance Africk.
